The university information services (UIS) are studied in the context of the knowledge management policies of universities. From an analysis of the structure of universities and their information needs and flows, UIS aims are defined and the different managerial approaches are sketched. The technological infrastructure is envisioned as a groupware environment on a web front-ended client-server architecture. Finally, the main informative products of a UIS are described, emphasising the use of WWW technology for building corporative portals, evaluated as the core of the organisation and sharing of knowledge in universitiesDownloads
