Developing a classification scheme for the Machado de Assis’ and Rui Barbosa’s archives: a critical and comparative analysis

The research aims to produce a critical and comparative analysis between the arrangements of the Machado de Assis’ archive, guarded by the Brazilian Academy of Letters - ABL and Rui Barbosa’s archive, guarded by Casa de Rui Barbosa Foundation - FCRB. It describes what personal papers are. It identifies how personal papers are treated from the perspective of Archival Science. It exposes the process of preparing the arrangements, identifying their similarities, differences and the difficulties faced by the archivists in the process.
