Tensions in collection development in view of the digital divide

In recent years, in Mexican university libraries, mainly in the public ones, many inherent tensions related to the subject of collection development have turned up due to the fact that the use of information and communication technologies has given place to a phenomenon known as “digital divide”, an aspect which has fastly caught the attention of librarians. The present document has the objective of outlining different tensions in collection development in an electronic environment. Also, it is noted down how libraries can turn into a bridge that covers the digital divide through collection development.Downloads
