Abstract

A study is proposed focusing the behavior of search and use of the information for researchers of six institutions of prominence in the area: the Ambient Nucleus of Studies and Research and the Institute of Biology both of the State University of Campinas (UNICAMP), the Department of Biological Sciences of the cities of pertaining Assis and Bauru to the State University São Paulo “Júlio de Mesquita Filho” (UNESP) and the Oceanographical Institute and the Institute of Meteorology both of the University of São Paulo (USP). The aims are to characterize the environmental information, including historical and current aspects, focusing the context of the countries of the “Third World” and particularly of Brazil; to delineate the profile of the researcher-users of environmental information; to identify to the habits of search and use and the necessities of information of the researchers; and to identify the basic considered sources of information for these researchers. The methodology will be of exploratory character and the data will be gotten through questionnaire contend open and closed questions, to be sent to the researchers of the three institutions selected for the research. With the gotten results one expects to raise adequate subsidies for the development of products and services of information for the researchers of the environmental sciences.
