Abstract

The paper examines certain principles specified in ethical codes related to rare book professionals. It delves into the deontological principles applicable to rare book trade and libraries, regarding both the actions of professionals working with them and the relationship between libraries and the community they serve.

Author Biography

Manuel-José Pedraza-Gracia, Departamento de Ciencias de la Documentación e Historia de la Ciencia, Facultad de Filosof

Cursa la licenciatura en Filosofía y Letras, Sección de Historia, en la Facultad de Filosofía y Letras de la Universidad de Zaragoza, cursos 1981/1982 a 1984/1985. Obtiene Premio Extraordinario de Licenciatura concedido por la Universidad de Zaragoza el 7 de julio de 1988. Obtiene el grado de doctor en Historia por la Universidad de Zaragoza desde el 22 de abril de 1993 con la calificación: Apto cum laude por unanimidad. Trabaja como profesor asociado de la Universidad de Zaragoza en la Facultad de Filosofía y Letras en el Área de Biblioteconomía y Documentación desde el 1 de octubre de 1989 hasta el 25 de marzo de 1995. Es Profesor titular desde esa fecha hasta la actualidad. Anteriormente desarrolló su trabajo como bibliotecario: Auxiliar de Bibliotecas (Grupo C) desde el 1 de enero de 1979 - 15 de septiembre de 1981 mediante contrato administrativo. Funcionario del Cuerpo Auxiliar de Archivos, Bibliotecas y Museos del Ministerio de Educación y Ciencia (Grupo C) desde el 15 de septiembre de 1981 hasta el 1 de enero de 1985; Funcionario de la Escala de Ayudantes de Archivos y Bibliotecas de la Universidad de Zaragoza (Grupo B) desde el 19 de noviembre de 1987 hasta el 30 de septiembre de 1989. Ha publicado diversas monografìas y artículos en revistas nacionales e intenacionales en materias relacionadas con la historia del libro y de las instituciones documentales.
