The current situation of the public libraries of the Province of Badajoz (Extremadura, Spain) and, mainly, of the library services that they are offering to the elderly community is analysed. A questionnaire divided into 7 categories and a total of 61 questions, both general and specific about the elderly, was designed; and it was sent to the 128 public libraries in the Province of Badajoz with a response rate of 50% (64 libraries). Through the use of descriptive statistics, a diagnosis is made that shows as results the lack of involvement on the part of the libraries surveyed with this age group, the little presence of services and activities focused on them. Training in librarians is neglected, and public bodies are cutting budgets more and more. Based on the shortcomings found, actions are proposed to improve the progress, adaptation and the integration of public libraries in the province of Badajoz with Extremadura society.
