User education in information technologies: a prototype for humanists

Abstract

The process of designing of a web site to instruct communities of specialized users in the field of humanities in the handling information technologies is described. Constructivism was selected as the psychological and educational theoretical frame. From this point of view, only after identifying the values of the research community a significant learning experience can be achieved. So their information needs, informative behaviour and information technology usage capabilities were researched. Stages were established and developed in order to design the automated program. Their scripts, contents, sample screens and the results of the evaluation are provided
