This Project collects the public discourses about Reading included in 53 news published in four relevant Portuguese newspapers: Jornal de Noticias,Diario de Noticias, Publicoand Correio da manha. The analysis is based on the study of the frequency rate and semantic value of a key words selection – present in the news corpus – for the object of the study. They allow observing the public discourses evolution along the period of time studied as a consequence of the new technologies development. The results indicate that technologies start to be a very important part of the Portuguese reading habits, but there are still not quite developed, as not all the functions are exploited. The conclusions would probably be that technologies develop so quickly that society needs some time to get used to them. In this way, they would manage them properly as well as standardize them correctly.
